MEET CREEKSIDE ANIMAL CLINIC LTD.’S VETS

DR. MURRAY FLOCK

Having spent his early years in Ontario, Dr. Murray Flock earned a B.Sc. from the University of Toronto and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Guelph, prior to moving to the North Okanagan in 1980. In 1986, Murray established Creekside Animal Clinic Ltd., moving the hospital to its current location 6 years later. Attracted to the veterinary profession by its broad mandate, with a focus on comparative medicine, he has maintained a varied interest in a number of species. Time away from the clinic tends to be spent outdoors, much of it running with his Australian shepherd/border collie, Tess, in Kalamalka Provincial Park.

DR. BRIAN MCONIE

Dr. Brian W. McOnie joined Creekside Animal Clinic Ltd. in 1991 and became a partner in 1995. He is a graduate of the Western College of Veterinary Medicine where he earned his DVM and at the University of California, Davis, where he earned his MPVM (Master of Preventive Veterinary Medicine). Brian has a particular interest in food animal practice and reproduction, especially embryo transfer, a subject which has taken him to work in China, the United States and the United Arab Emirates. He is Past President of the Canadian Embryo Transfer Association.

Brian has coached minor soccer for 10 years, is an avid hockey fan and enjoys many outdoor activities in the North Okanagan.

DR. SIETSKE RIJNEN

Dr. Sietske Rijnen studied veterinary medicine at the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands and graduated in 2006. Ready for a new adventure she immigrated to Canada and joined Creekside Animal Clinic. She enjoys the diversity and challenges that are part of her daily work schedule. She loves the interaction with the animals as well as the owners. When not at work you can find her on the agility field training her dogs or teaching others. She also enjoys mountain biking, trail running, skiing, snowshoeing and renovating her house.

DR. JANINE VERONNEAU

Dr. Janine Veronneau is a returning Canadian, born in Alberta but raised in Oklahoma. She graduated from the Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011 and spent the next five years working with (mostly) military dogs for the United States Army. After realizing she missed large animal practice, especially horses, she completed an internship specializing in equine practice at Paton and Martin Veterinary Services in Aldergrove, BC. Now she is the newest member of the Creekside team, and she’s excited to get to know our great patients and clients. Her special interests include equine and canine sports medicine, equine dentistry, and geriatric care. She’s looking forward to doing some outdoor exploring both on horseback and with her Doberman Sally, sailing, as well as learning some new winter sports.

DR. JOCELYNE CHALIFOUR

Dr. Jocelyne Chalifour graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2022, and is thrilled to join the Creekside Animal Clinic team! She is originally from Calgary, Alberta where she grew up around lots of animals. Jocelyne developed a deep appreciation for mixed animal practice throughout her veterinary education. Her current areas of interest include small animal behaviour, small ruminants, surgery, and honey bee medicine.

In her free time, Jocelyne enjoys hiking, camping, and playing ringette. New to the clinic in August 2022, she looks forward to meeting the clients, patients, and living in the Okanagan.

DR. JENNY DUNN

Dr. Jenny Dunn grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia. She attended the University of Guelph where she completed a Bachelor of Science and was an active member on the women’s varsity rugby and soccer teams. She continued at Guelph completing a Master of Science in Epidemiology before attending the University College Dublin for her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Jenny’s main interests are mixed animal practice, surgery, and public health. Outside of work, you can find her on the rugby pitch, on her bike, snowboarding in the mountains, or on the lake!
